Calculating Flights

Flight Handicap Index Ranges are determined by sorting all members and their Handicap Index in a Handicap Index ascending order and dividing the list into four equal lists. The list of members with the lowest range of Handicap Indexes is assigned to the A-Flight. The list of members with the next lowest range of Handicap Indexes is assigned to the B-Flight, etc. The Flight Handicap Index Range is the range of Handicap Indexes for a flight. The previous year's Flight Handicap Index Ranges are used for the first half of the golf season and are reevaluated and adjusted mid-season by the Special Events Committee. The week before a Special Event Course Handicaps and Flights are calculated and can be found on the Flights webpage. The current Flight Handicap Index Ranges are listed below:

Flight Handicap Index Range
A 0 - 12.8
B 12.9 - 16.3
C 16.4 - 20.0
D 20.1 and up
  (updated 7/22/19)

NOTE: Members must have an established handicap to qualify to play in a Special Event except for the Fewest Putts event. In the Fewest Putts event, members without a handicap will be assigned to the A-Flight.
